This is my latest class project: Use images and sound to create a text and a subtext: Create meaning using music that either plays for or against the images. I was lucky enough to have a few days to shoot this project during a family hunting trip in southern Alberta! I call it an atypical look at a hunting trip. Check it out on YouTube or Vimeo – I’m trying to decide which page looks better. The same file was uploaded to each site, so let me know if you have a preference Watch it in HD if you can!

Mackey-Fresh Productions has a new YouTube Channel. I’ve decided to start a youtube account in addition to the vimeo account to reach more people, and youtube allows a larger upload size. So, with the youtube channel I’ve been able to upload THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE EASTER, my 3rd year final project from the U of R. It’s about the easter bunny, AND IT’S in HD!
Also new is our HD longboard video “Laquisha the Longboarder Loves Lazily Lounging in Lumsden” It’s in HD on vimeo and youtube.
Hello Everybody (Hi, Dr. Nick)

This is a video that Chris Miller, Phil Johnson, and I shot for a competition in Saskatchewan, Canada. The purpose was for students or filmmakers to create a video that would tell people why Saskatchewan’s Crown Corporations are important. We were reminded of the deadline two days before the due date, shot the video a day later, and had it on DVD and submitted with hours to spare! We used some footage that I’d shot over the last year or so, some shot out of a greyhound bus in winter, some shot in the Qu’appelle valley last weekend. Fingers crossed for the win!

Air Chair Movie was shot using the “smooth slow record” feature. I figured that air chairing would be a good test for the feature. The camera records 12 seconds of video for 3 seconds of realtime. Check out the results…
The Gopher was shot this summer during the Best of the West adventure race. I was waiting for a team to arrive at a checkpoint, and some gophers made a visit. Filming these chaotic little animals was a good way to pass the time.
Here’s the trailer for “Das North” (watch it in Full Screen). You can also watch it on vimeo.
In summer of 2008, my Dad converted our snowmobile trailer into a raft that earned the title “Franken Float.” He hitched the beast to our truck and told us his dream was to float his family down the Yukon river. We dragged that creation up the Alaska highway to Whitehorse, Yukon, to the marge of Lake Laberge. We unfolded our home-made float, put a tent and motor on it, and launched into unknown territory.
We’ve released the date and time for the 4th Annual Mackey-Fresh Adventure Film Festival and Wild Game Banquet! Visit the “Events” page for details. This year’s premiere features 2 outdoor adventure documentaries.
